DID SOMEBODY CALL A DOCTOR? // DR. DOG // FIELD MOUSE // BOWERY BALLROOM
LAST weekend my brother Isaac and I headed down to Manhattan to see one of our favorite bands, Dr. Dog. After a 3 1/2 hour car ride, into Tarrytown, hour train ride, and 2 1/2 mile walk in the cold, we finally made it to Bowery Ballroom. We walked down the stairs into the main lobby area, to an open room with a bar in the center and a man taking coats, and rested our feet while we waited for the doors to the concert to open.
FIrst up was Field Mouse (check out their music here); they weren't anything like Dr. Dog, and not a genre I'd typically listen to, but I loved their show. Something about watching them made me really excited about the music I've been working on, and I've now got my heart set on playing here someday.
Next up was Dr. Dog. Despite the close quarters and incredibly obnoxious drunk girls, it was one of the best shows I've been to. Live concerts are always fun, but there are a few bands that make my head and heart feel like their going to explode. Dr. Dog did that for me. I used to listen to them for hours while I'd ride around the coast of California, and seeing them live brought me back there. If you ever get the chance to see them live, do it, and if you haven't listened to them before, do that now (click here to check out one of my favorite songs, "Lonesome").
Thumbs up for real, Dr. Thanks for such a good show. Also, I love you.
