Putting Down Roots - A Year with the Topping Tree
This is slightly overdue, but last month marked a year of working with The Topping Tree. I can't even explain how thankful I am to have found Heather, and to get to work along side her and her husband to help build their image and share their vision with the world. She is not only an incredibly passionate and determined business woman, but now also someone I can call my close friend.
Here are some photos from the past year of working with Heather and the team (lots of photos are of our main model and the face of The Topping Tree, makeup artist Ashtyn McMichael )
These are from my first shoot with The Topping Tree. I'd never shot anything vaguely commercial before, and was fairly nervous. The room was pretty dark, and I had always worked strictly with natural light, but with two feet of snow outside and more on the way, shooting a spring look indoors was our only option.
Watching The Topping Tree get ready to open their brick and mortar shop in the Village of New Hartford was a really exciting time. I loved seeing this tiny space transform into something really incredible, and it was even cooler seeing how inspiring it was to women all over the community. There wasn't a detail Heather and Zac didn't put their whole hearts into.
2015 was one of the hardest and best years for me. I had moved back to Utica in 2013 after living in California for the past four years, and was still trying to find my place in our really wonderful but small town. As much as I love the area, I probably wouldn't have lasted here much longer if I hadn't found Heather and co. It was really amazing to start this new year with a core group of people around me, who love and support each other and give constructive criticism when it's needed.
And now I'm off the celebrate the new addition to the Topping Tree family, baby Casimir - coming soon to the world outside the womb.
